Bristol 7-piece Pet Shimmers follow up last month's 'Sonder' with B-side 'Edge Lord', out on 7-inch via Bob Nastanovich (Pavement)'s Brokers Tip label. Beginning with swooning strings, piano and gentle acoustic guitars before bursting into soaring indie pop, the track has a sense of fullness, a multitude of different layers and textures from guitars and synths that combine to create a dense thicket of sound, all without crowding the song. Singer Oliver Wilde explains the meaning behind the song's lyrics “Edgelord is a love letter to the golden ratio of the deep online forums where freedom plays out like a Wild West movie. I wrote it after watching a BBC documentary about Pepe the frog and the misdirected violence of online freedom. It’s about the cowboys and cowgirls who flood the depths of the Internet with love, and hate.
